a homozygous Tobiano. Copper is a powerful,
nice moving stallion. He inherited his great
disposition from a long line
of champions.

He’s a Straw is one of the handful of APHA champion homozygous stallions
in the world Sired by the famous Lucky Straw APHA Supreme champion and the
only paint pictured in the Legend books volume 3 with AAA speed, barrels, working
cow, jumping, trail, and halter in their pedigree. Lucky Straw was a versatile
horse with ROMs in barrel racing, reining, steer stopping, western pleasure
and western riding. He earned his superior and reserve national championship
in halter. He even ran some stakes races in 1974.
The Paint Horse Book “More Than Color” featured a series of Paint
Horse Legends. Copper has the following “legends” in his
parentage:
- Painted Joe – legendary early day racehorse
and founder of an extensive family of race / show horses.
- Babette – Grand dam of Bon Bon, an early
APHA Champion.
- Skip Hi – One of the breed’s most influential
foundation sires.
- Q Ton Eagle – Founded a great family of tobiano’s
- Painted Robin and Yellow Mount, Arizona legends…
